Max is a reclusive mathematician who becomes obsessed with searching for patterns in the universe, as part of a quest for meaning. Using a self-developed super-computer, he makes a discovery that leads him to believe he can predict the future, bringing him to the attention of both Hassidic priests and Wall Street gurus. As his obsession grows, his discovery threatens to destroy both his way of life, and his sanity.
