Static Vision are heading back to Lido Cinemas, February 8-11, 2024, presenting their new festival, Obsessions, a four-day film event exploring compulsion, rabbit-holing, feverish fixations, and the pursuit of the mysterious.
The festival kicks off with a retrospective screening of A24's new 8K scan of Darren Aronofsky's grungy, jaw-dropping debut Pi, accompanied by the Australian Theatrical debut of William Friedkin's underappreciated late-career masterpiece, Bug.
Other highlights include the return of Gregg Araki's Teenage Apocalyse Trilogy (Totally F***ed Up, The Doom Generation, and Nowhere) to Australian screens for the first time in 20 years, new works from cult filmmakers Daisuke Miyazaki, Amanda Kramer, Masao Adachi, and the latest work from the team behind Beyond the Infinite Two Minutes, as well as a whole host of killer retro titles and experimental shorts. Cult cinematographer Sean Price Williams' (Good Time, Her Smell directorial debut The Sweet East closes out the festival - direct from Cannes, featuring a who's who of the American independent film circuit including Talia Ryder, Jacob Elordi, Ayo Edebiri, Jeremy O. Harris and Simon Rex.
